Defensive capabilities are not something Red is known for, but seeing as our opponents are likely to be seeing red as we sling multiple burn spells in their direction, having a Commander that can protect us from attackers is a great bonus

This is only the second card named Shinryu in FFTCG, but if you think you might need more than the 3 copies to ensure Tidal Wave, Shinryu [14-115L] does exist as an option

It can work as one of the 99, but I like the reliability of it coming out of the command zone

Other colors receive noncombat damage effects, usually with a twist that makes the spell feel more appropriate for that color
